6th Grade ELA and Religion Teacher

*POSITION OPENING*: *6th Grade Teacher* St.
Francis of Assisi Catholic School, a Preschool - 8th grade school in Yorba Linda, is seeking a dynamic, experienced, and faith-filled elementary teacher who, as an effective educator, demonstrates thorough curriculum knowledge, can teach and assess effectively, take responsibility for professional growth, and creates a class environment that fosters learning and personal growth.
There are two classes per grade level and this teacher partners with the other grade level teacher.
This role will teach homeroom Religion and English Language Arts to both classes in 6thGrade.
This position will serve to support the school’s mission and philosophy as a member of a vibrant Catholic school community.
The position is for the 2023/2024 school year and will start upon verification of references and completion of application and background check.
*POSITION DESCRIPTION* * 5 ½ month full-time exempt with benefits * Reports to the Assistant Principal and Principal * Responsible for planning, implementing, and assessing all components of 6th grade Religion, and English Language Arts curriculum for both classes in 6thGrade.
This includes literature, writing, and grammar * Attend overnight Outdoor Education Trip – 4 days, 3 nights * Serve as a member of our school teaching team, whose mission it is to educate and form the whole child in virtue and intellect * Lead/support ancillary 6th grade activities/programs and perform supervisory duties * Performs additional duties at the request of the Principal *QUALIFICATIONS* * Practicing Roman Catholic with a strong commitment to and working knowledge of the Catholic faith * Diocesan religious certification or willingness to become certified * Experience integrating iPad technology in creative, innovative ways to support instruction and student learning * Strong knowledge of 6th grade ELA curriculum, data driven instruction, standards-based learning, and teacher-driven learning communities * Strong knowledge of strategies for engaging students with diverse needs * Excellent classroom management skills * Strong interpersonal, collaborative, organizational, and administrative skills *EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE* * Possess a BA or BS degree and a valid California Teaching Credential * Minimum three years elementary teaching experience *SALARY*: Appropriate level on the Diocesan Teacher Salary schedule based on experience and qualifications.
