Purpose of Position: The Receptionist will greet our valued customers (on the phone and/or in person) in a calm, friendly and professional manner; then transfer the call to, or request lobby assistance from the appropriate company personnel.
Essential Functions:
• Answers a high-volume of customer calls.
• Assist with Administrative & Data entry duties in between calls.
• Train new staff members to use switchboard.
• Serve as back-up for the Administrative Assistant.
• Work in conjunction with the IT department to report and resolve telephone system problems and improvements.
• Assist all departments with special projects, at the discretion of supervisor.
• When on-site, restock coffee, soda, water, and candy supplies each morning.
• When on-site, assist any visitors to the lobby.
• Adhere to all PHI (Protected Health Information) and HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) guidelines.
• On-site or remote regular attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the job.
• Performs other business tasks or functions as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
• Must have a positive customer service attitude and be able to maintain a calm and professional manner in a fast-paced environment, even with difficult customers.
• Excellent verbal communication skills in English.
• Phone, multi-tasking, and teamwork skills are required.
• Knowledge of a PC and Microsoft Outlook is a must and knowledge of Word and Excel a plus.
• Prefer a candidate with previous experience in handling a busy switchboard with calls transferred to multiple departments.
• Experience in the Health Insurance Industry, a medical office and/or customer service a plus.
• Bi-lingual in Spanish a plus.

Educational Requirements:
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Must have at least one (1) year experience in similar position.
• Must be fluent in the English language.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to sit for extended periods of time and occasional standing and walking.
Must have adequate hearing for phone work.
Vision requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Must be able to communicate effectively in English.
Must be able to use a keyboard and other office equipment.
Ability to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally.
When working remotely must maintain a quiet distraction free workspace.
