*JOB SUMMARY * Under the supervision of the Clinical Director, a Licensed Therapist is responsible for providing initial individual assessment, treatment planning, counseling, family sessions and discharge planning for clients referred for an inpatient/outpatient mental health and alcohol/drug treatment program.
The therapist will participate in multidisciplinary treatment rounds and collaborate closely with the rest of the clinical and operations team.
The therapist will also facilitate psychoeducational, experiential and process groups.
In addition to carrying a caseload of clients, this position oversees the milieu therapy for a treatment program and may supervise interns.
The therapist will have training and experience in trauma informed care, substance use treatment and crisis management.
*MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS * *Education: *Preferred: masters or doctoral degree in a mental health-related field.
Completes annual educational requirements as required by licensing.
*Licensing: *California license for LMFT, LCSW, LPCC, PsyD, PhD.
*Experience: *Prefer a minimum two (2) years experience as a therapist with specialized training and experience in trauma informed care and substance use treatment, including evidence based therapies for trauma and addiction.
Experience working in a PHP/IOP treatment center setting.
*JOB DUTIES * • Facilitates or Co-Facilitates individual and group therapy sessions with assigned groups of clients as well as facilitating family therapy sessions demonstrating knowledge of mental health disorders, substance abuse, eating disorders and the principles and techniques of group therapy.
• Shows knowledge and understanding of individual client and family dynamics in the early stages of treatment.
• Establishes rapport, systematically gathers data, determines the readiness of the individual for treatment and change, and applies accepted criteria for diagnosis of mental health and substance use disorders.
• Screens for psychoactive substance toxicity, intoxication, and withdrawal symptoms • Screens for danger to self or others and provides crisis intervention and support as needed, including assessing for safety and coordinating appropriate referrals for higher levels of care • Screens for co-occurring mental health issues • Analyzes and interprets data to determine treatment recommendations and priorities • With the individual served, formulates mutually agreed-upon, measurable treatment goals and objectives and evaluates goals weekly • Coordinates with treatment team for follow-up support and services • Completes timely reviews of progress, monthly reports, insurance utilization reviews.
Monitor and document client’s progress in therapy, maintaining accurate and up to date clinical records in compliance with regulatory standards.
• Develops and implements appropriate discharge and relapse prevention planning with client.
• Actively participates as a member of the client’s treatment team • Conducts topic groups, displaying good theoretical knowledge of subject matter and effective communication skills in delivering material.
• Participates in other committees and teams as appropriate.
Contribute to program development and quality improvement initiatives to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of services provided • Performs other duties as assigned.
• Provides crisis and support services as needed.
• Consults with supervisor about any decisions regarding emergency safety responses, discharging and consequences.
• Participates in administrative supervision and team meetings; attends other meetings as appropriate, or as requested by supervisor.
Participates in ongoing professional development activities, including supervision, training, and continuing education, to enhance clinical skills and stay current with best practices in trauma and substance use treatment *KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED * • Able to develop strong professional relationships with team members and foster a sense of teamwork and collaboration across all departments.
• Demonstrated knowledge and mastery of the fundamentals of the therapeutic counseling process, which includes defining problems and maintaining an effective counseling relationship.
Provide trauma informed therapy modalities such as CBT, DBT, EMDR, IFS and other trauma focused interventions • Knowledge of Best Practice models specific to substance abuse treatment • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively and proactively with families, and other behavioral health professionals, and service providers • Possesses client engagement skills necessary to work effectively with adults • Writes clinically appropriate progress notes and utilization reviews to support clinical interventions with clients • Ability to use individual, group, or familial therapeutic interventions; demonstrates sensitivity to diversity and possesses multicultural counseling skills Ability to work effectively both independently and as a part of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with colleagues Demonstrated commitment to cultural competence, diversity, equity, and inclusion in clinical practice • Ability to provide crisis intervention and stabilization to clients • Able to maintain professional boundaries in working with others; maintains confidential information • Ability to make professional evaluations, decisions, and recommendations for treatment planning and implementation.
• Demonstrates adherence to accepted ethical and behavioral standards of conduct • Participates in continuing professional development • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and some weekend work for appropriate delivery of services when necessary • Ability to work with clients with emotional and mental health related difficulties; able to respond quickly and appropriately to difficult behaviors and emergency situations • Ability to use accurate, clear and concise oral and written communication • Ability to maintain effective working relationships • Ability to explain procedures and requirements to the public and employees • Ability to critically think and analyze and communicate findings • Ability to work independently and perform assignments with minimal direction • Ability to operate a variety of automated office equipment such as personal computers, copy machines, calculators, fax machine, telephone systems, etc.
Software such as Microsoft Office products, Electronic Health Records systems.
*PHYSICAL DEMANDS * Light to moderate physical activity involving office procedures.
Prolonged sitting with some walking throughout the facility.
Manual dexterity for extensive keyboarding and telephone use.
Infrequent light to moderate lifting.
Emotional stress related to dealing with varied psychosocial needs of clients/families and occasional heavy workload.
Meets dress code standards; appearance is neat and clean.
Wears identification while on duty.
Complies with state and federal laws for employee health requirements, such as TB testing and other requirements.
*HAZARDOUS WORK CONDITIONS * Exposed to hazards associated with electrical equipment.
Minimal risk of exposure to hazardous materials, blood and body fluids, communicable diseases, violent behaviors, chemical elements.
Work is carried out in a office setting.
Job Type: Full-time Salary: $55.
