The STEM teacher will engage students in all grade levels (TK-8) to explore real-world issues.
The STEM teacher will meet with students for approximately 45 minutes weekly.
S/he will engage students to explore their community, identify an issue or problem, develop an essential question, and sustain inquiry to create a public product answering the essential question.
S/he will also expose students to career technical education (CTE) through the course.
*Duties and Responsibilities:* * Support students in identifying problems in the local community and proposing solutions; * Incorporate the Seven Essentials for PBL into class design and instruction; * Develop real-world based units and activities to engage students; * Teach the academic skills, foster the intellectual habits, and cultivate the character traits needed for our students to thrive in all academic pursuits; * Integrate standards from multiple subjects into units; * Incorporate the CA CTE Model Curriculum Standards; * Plan, prepare, and implement lesson plans that utilize * Teach the academic skills, foster the intellectual habits, and cultivate the character traits needed for our students to thrive in all academic pursuits * Contribute to the design of a rigorous curriculum that includes the school’s standards, California State Content Standards, and Common Core standards * Plan, prepare, and implement lesson plans that utilize a variety of instructional strategies and differentiate teaching based on the diverse and individual needs of all students * Model and teach the values of Scholarship Prep * Implement classroom management techniques to create a nurturing, safe, and structured learning classroom environment * Maintain high expectations for students’ academic achievement and conduct * Value and draw upon students’ experiences and backgrounds * Participate actively in all professional development sessions and reflect on teaching craft to make improvements * Build positive and trusting relationships with students, families, and community members * Performs other duties as assigned *Requirements:* * Possession of a valid preliminary or clear multiple subject teaching credential issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing * Bachelors Degree from an accredited institution of higher learning * Possession of either a Bilingual, Cross-cultural, Language and Academic Development (BCLAD) certificate, a Cross-cultural, Language and Academic Development (CLAD) certificate, a Bilingual Certificate of Competence (BCC), or a Language Development Specialist (LDS) certificate * All employees must fulfill California Education Code § 44237, which requires fingerprints to be obtained from each new employee in order to obtain a criminal record summary prior to commencing employment from the Department of Justice.
Job Type: Full-time Pay: $61,000.
