Job Description:
We are seeking a qualified Electrical Engineer to join our team as a Makerspace Tutor.
In this role, you will be responsible for guiding and mentoring both high school and university students in engineering projects within our Makerspace.
The ideal candidate should have a strong foundation in electrical engineering and hands-on experience with tools and machinery commonly found in a Makerspace environment, including 3D printers, CO2 laser cutting machines, and drill presses.
Responsibilities:
Tutoring: Provide guidance and support to high school and university students in executing engineering projects within the Makerspace.
Project Development: Collaborate with students to develop innovative and engaging engineering projects, integrating electrical engineering principles.
Hands-on Assistance: Assist students in using Makerspace equipment, including 3D printers, CO2 laser cutting machines, and drill presses.
Safety Oversight: Ensure that all students adhere to safety protocols while using Makerspace tools and equipment.
Skill Enhancement: Facilitate workshops and training sessions to enhance students' skills in electrical engineering and Makerspace technologies.
Resource Management: Manage and maintain the makerspace equipment, ensuring proper functionality and coordinating repairs or upgrades when necessary.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Practical experience with 3D printers, CO2 laser cutting machines, drill presses and other tools.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with students and other educators.
Passion for hands-on learning and project-based education.
Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with software for project design.
Experience in developing and implementing educational programs.
Knowledge of emerging technologies in the field of electrical engineering.
