*LEAP Learning Center is seeking Literacy Tutors for the 2023-2024school year! Work on site at a public elementary school alongside an amazing team of educators dedicated to creating positive outcomes for at risk students.
Training provided - no teaching experience necessary!*
*LEAP, a non-profit organization, serves approximately 200 academically at-risk elementary students each year by providing no-cost Reading Intervention to 5 Title I Public Schools within TUSD (Tustin Unified School District).
Our mission is for each student to attain literacy mastery in order to succeed in school and beyond.

This is an authentic teaching experience where you will improve the lives of children while gaining valuable instructional skills.
This is not a drop-in program.
You meet with the same students for the entire year! Watch your efforts pay off as the children make great strides thanks to your hard work!!
*Job Description:*
*Literacy Tutors provide Guided Reading Instruction to small groups of students under the guidance and support of the Site Supervisor, a credentialed teacher.
Guided reading involves using level appropriate texts to instruct students in the components of literacy: phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension.
Training is provided.

*Literacy Tutors are assigned to 1 public school site and meet with the same students 2 to 4 days each week, M-TH from September - May according to the TUSD School Calendar.
This is a contract position, and the right candidate will be able to commit to the entire 2023-2024school year.

*DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:*
* *Conduct literacy instruction with small groups (4-6) students selected for LEAP by TUSD.
*
* *Conduct instruction according to LEAP and TUSD curriculum and procedures.
*
* *Plan daily lessons for groups (planning time included) with support from Site Supervisor.
*
* *Set group/student objectives.
*
* *Maintain student records and notes on student progress.
*
* *Create a safe and stimulating environment for students.
*
* *Support students’ oral and written language development.
*
* *Build meaningful relationships with students.
*
*POSITION REQUIREMENTS*
* *Current College Student or Bachelor's Degree*
* *Ability to learn and implement the principles of guiding reading*
* *Computer and digital proficiency*
* *Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills*
* *Background check*
* *Reliable transportation to and from your assigned school site.
*
* *Ability to positively relate to children of all learning styles and backgrounds*
*Experience with children or Tutoring/Teaching is a plus.
*
*Hours: Commitment is 2 to 4 days per week, September 2022-May 2023*
*Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 1:15- 5:15*
*Wednesday: 12:00-4:00*
*Salary: $20-$22 per hour, depending on education and experience.
