*Overview: *Under the general supervision of the Director of Children’s Ministry, the Nursery and Preschool Coordinator is responsible to perform duties in the area focused on, but not limited to, families of children ages 0-5 years old.
*EXAMPLES OF DUTIES, Responsibilities & tasks*
* Works under the guidance of the Director of Children’s Ministry and in collaboration with the Youth and Family Ministry (YFM) team.
* In conjunction with the Director of Children’s Ministry, create a loving and safe environment for the children being cared for in the ministry and in other RHL childcare.
* Coordinates the Nursery and Preschool Ministry, including schedules, staff trainings, parent communication, activity planning and protocols.
* Coordinate, supervise and, with the help of the Director of Children’s Ministry, recruit volunteers for the Nursery & Preschool Ministry.
* Work with the Director of Children’s Ministry to schedule caregivers for all worship services and other church events when childcare is requested.
* Abide by all policies and guidelines of Red Hill Lutheran Church.
* Be polite, friendly, and courteous to all children, parents and volunteers.
* Supervise ministry staff and volunteers and ensure they greet and communicate warmly with each parent/guardian and follow all protocols.
* Teach age-appropriate lessons and/or provide direct care for children.
* Supervise Nursery and Preschool Ministry staff and ensure participation in protocols and procedures.
* Provide age-appropriate care, including feeding, changing diapers, escorting to the bathroom, holding, or sitting with and cheerfully interacting with the children using games, stories, play and prayer.
* Facilitates communication with parents of this age group.
* In the event of an emergency, notify the parent/guardian via communication tools provided by RHL.
* Regularly communicates and collaborates with the Director of Children’s Ministry.
* Regularly communicate with volunteers.
* Meets with the Director of Children’s Ministry regularly, as arranged.
* Updates and maintains database for ministry families and staff.
* Helps facilitate small group leaders & volunteer training sessions.
* Provides support for RHLC & S events as needed.
* Complete forms as needed to communicate any special needs to the Director of Children’s Ministry.

*Qualifications:*
* +18 years of age
* Be of good moral and Christian character
* Stability of mental, physical, spiritual and emotional health.
* Willing to have an active relationship with Red Hill Lutheran Church and School either as a member or active participant; active desire to participate in our mission to lead (children and youth leaders) on the journey to become deeply devoted followers of Jesus.
* Knowledge of needs and the ability to adapt and interact with a variety of personalities and developmental levels common to children, six weeks of age – five years old.
* Experience in childcare settings.
* Strong organizational skills.
* Able to create signs, sign-in sheets and communications with parents that are well constructed, well edited and professional in appearance.
* Able to lift 30 pounds.
* Talking to others in English to covey information effectively.
* Able to stand, crouch, bend and move during shift.
* Completion of a livescan fingerprinting/background check and all required forms (Red Hill will provide instructions to you)
* Completion of Child Abuse On-Line Training (Red Hill will provide training instructions to you)
* Receive CPR Training and certification for infants and children within 90 days of hire.
