*Job Description* The Assistant Principal is responsible for a variety of areas, including student behavior, discipline, campus supervision, attendance, facilities, school safety, and leadership of the Math or Science Dept.
The Assistant Principal works closely with the Principal and the Administrative Team to foster a positive, engaged, and academically strong school environment.
This is an 11-month position: August through June Hours: 8:00 am - 4:00 pm *Reports To* Keith Corpus, Principal *Curriculum and Instruction* * Chair either the Math and/or Science department.
* Assess and improve instructional practices to enhance student performance.
* Provide professional development opportunities for faculty in math and science education.
* Participate in the hiring, supervising, and evaluation of teachers and staff, with a focus on Math and/or Science.
* Teach up to one class, as needed.
* Assist the Principal with the planning of the master schedule and individual student schedules.
* Assist in the development and submission of courses for UC approval, particularly for Math and/or Science.
* Moderate a school club(s) as appropriate.
* Serve as an advisor to students as part of the Advisement program.
* Mentor, oversee and track progress and proctor quizzes/exams of online students.
*Student Behavior and Discipline* * Oversee and manage grade 7-12 attendance.
* Take and track daily attendance (specifically for start of day) * Track tardies and absences, communicate with students, families/guardians accordingly (i.
e.
warnings, doctor notes, etc …) * Share and update daily attendance with faculty * Develop and implement effective behavior management strategies and discipline procedures.
* Meet with students and parents/guardians.
* Manage and document student disciplinary incidents.
* Assist in the supervision of students before school, during break period, lunch, and after school.
* Oversee detentions, including weekend detentions (when available).
* Foster a positive school culture that encourages students to take responsibility for their actions and make ethical choices.
* Work with teachers, parents, and counselors to address student behavior and social-emotional needs.
* Oversee student driving policies and permissions.
* Facilitate and track student compliance with Safe Driving program.
*Facilities Management* * Oversee the maintenance and improvement of school facilities.
* Liaison with St.
Paul’s Church on facilities issues.
* Liaison with Performance on facilities issues.
* Collaborate with maintenance staff and contractors to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.
* Assign student lockers.
*Campus Supervision and Safety* * Oversee daily operations, ensuring a safe and secure campus environment.
* Monitor and address issues related to campus safety, security, and cleanliness.
* Assist with campus security.
* Oversee Emergency Preparedness procedures, documentation, supplies and drills.
* Coordinate and support extracurricular activities and events.
*Administrative* * Participate in the planning of the school calendar, development and revising of the faculty and student handbooks, and the orientation of teachers and students.
* Attend workshops and professional development to stay abreast of current leadership and instructional best practices.
* Assist with the tracking, maintaining and analyzing of school data, including student data and standardized testing data.
* Assist with the WASC accreditation process.
* Serve as Acting Principal in the absence of the Principal.
*Qualifications:* * Master's degree in Education, School Administration, or a related field.
* Teaching experience in math or science at the K-12 level.
* Previous administrative or leadership experience in an educational setting.
* Knowledge of curriculum development, educational trends, and math and/or science education best practices.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.
