We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our Academic Advising community as the Transfer Success Specialist, focusing on advising to facilitate the transitions from community colleges to California State University, Fullerton (Cal State Fullerton) and providing top-notch advising for prospective and newly admitted transfer students.

Reporting to the Director of Academic Advising, Operations and Innovation, the Transfer Success Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the successful transition and integration of transfer students into the Cal State Fullerton community.
This position will work with prospective and newly admitted transfer students and their families to provide guidance, resources, and support services aimed at creating a seamless transition and enhancing their overall academic success.
They will coordinate and collaborate with academic advising teams and student support services at Cal State Fullerton to offer holistic and comprehensive pre-transfer advising activities and transition support.
The position will serve as a point person for students in the Transfer Success Pathway program and provide personalized guidance to help students create an educational plan.
They will also participate in transfer student campus events, orientations, and advising activities.
The Transfer Success Specialist will develop and engage in outreach efforts to regional community colleges, designs and offers workshops on the transfer process, and serves as an informational liaison for community college counselors.
*Please be aware that funding for this position is awarded through a Grant/Contract over a specified period.
Employment for this position beyond current Grant/Contract funding is contingent upon continued funding or new Grant/Contract.
Essential Duties Academic Advising and Data Tracking Provide individual and group academic advising to community college students in various formats, including in-person and virtual modalities via appointments, email, workshops, etc.
Propose, implement, and maintain advising strategies and best practices for target population.
Offer guidance on transfer coursework, degree requirements, and academic policies to transfer students.
Tailor guidance to ensure students receive appropriate course recommendations, explore relevant academic opportunities, and develop realistic academic plans.
Serve as primary advising point of contact for prospective and admitted transfer students and provide personalized support for their transition.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of interactions with campus and external partners and prospective and current students.
Engage in on-going assessment and provide data-driven recommendations for improvement and enhancement.
Support and track enrollment and retention of transfer students.
Outreach and Community Engagement Participate in outreach to community colleges in Southern California, in particular Orange County, such as transfer fairs to provide information and guidance on the transfer process.
Connect with and attend community college counselor meetings to serve as an informational liaison and conduct presentations on the CSUF transfer process.
Offer outreach and pre-transfer advising for students considering attending Cal State Fullerton Participate in Transfer Open House, Transfer Summit, and other campus outreach, recruitment, and orientation activities for transfer students.
Coordinate and facilitate orientation programs specifically designed for transfer students to ensure a smooth transition to campus life.
Collaboration with Advising and Campus Partners Collaborate with the Office of Admissions to ensure a smooth transition for students in The Transfer Success Pathway program.
Work in partnership with various campus departments (Transfer, Adult, Pregnant, and Parenting (TAPP) Center, Office of Financial Aid, Office, Diversity and Inclusion Resource Center, Disability Support Services, etc.
) to provide comprehensive onboarding experiences.
Work closely with academic departments, campus programs, offices, and all advising teams.
OTHER DUTIES: Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Minimum two (2) years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or a related field.
A master’s degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of professional experience.
Additional specialized and relevant experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Demonstrated ability to effectively apply policies, rules, and regulations, and advise students individually and in groups on complex student-related matters.
Demonstrated ability to take initiative, plan, develop, coordinate, supervise, and organize programs and activities.
Demonstrated ability to interact and work effectively with student, faculty, staff, and communities of diverse backgrounds.
Demonstrated ability to analyze complex situations accurately and adopt effective courses of action and be able to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
EDUCATION: Minimum Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent from an accredited four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public administration, business administration or a job-related field.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Lifting of up to 25lbs.
; periodic bending; long-term periods of sitting; long term periods operating a computer.
