In partnership with Orange Coast College, The Scion Group is responsible for managing the College's first on-campus student housing project: The Harbour at OCC, an 800-bed community opened in the Fall 2020 semester.

The Resident Advisor (RA) position is a unique student leadership opportunity.
In their work, RAs serve as role models, community builders, peer educators, and a connection to resources for residents.
RAs are integral members of The Harbour team to ensure a inclusive community that supports resident safety, academic success, and sense of belonging.
RAs are required to live in The Harbour.

Maintains visibility and approachability within the community.
Develops and maintains relationships with university staff, organizations, community businesses and Scion employees.
Stays familiar with all residents in their designated community; maintains contact with each resident regularly to provide support and build community.
Participates in developing and advising community activities and encourages students to become active participants.
Responds to all emergency and non-emergency situations and contacts appropriate supervisory staff for assistance as needed and directed.
Serves in a rotational on-call schedule during overnight hours, weekends, college breaks, and holidays, requiring in-person response to incidents that may arise.
Creates an atmosphere of acceptance for all students regardless of personal differences.
Participates in operational and administrative initiatives including opening and closing procedures and regular health and safety inspections of resident units.
Assists with resolving resident issues and conflicts.
Plans, executes, and promotes resident events via digital and traditional marketing measures.
Completes all necessary written reports including but not limited to: weekly operational reports, incident reports, duty logs, programming/event proposals and evaluations.
Administers resident engagement surveys.
Embodies an ambassador for the community both in and out of The Harbour.
Knows all college community policies and procedures and is able to explain and enforce them in the community.
Complies with the university's code of conduct, Scion's policies and Fair Housing Laws.
Actively participates in training opportunities and attends all required in-person & online training.
Attends required meetings and trainings as scheduled by The Harbour leadership and OCC personnel.
Completes administrative tasks as assigned by The Harbour leadership team.
Works with Assistant Community Director on resident retention initiatives.
The responsibilities listed above are not all inclusive.
Qualifications Must be enrolled for 6 or more units per semester, in good standing with the college, and maintain a minimum semester GPA of 2.

Ability and willingness to reside in The Harbour, with limitations on proximity to The Harbour when scheduled to serve on-call.
Must be available to work a minimum of 18 hours a week.
Anticipate working 30 - 40 hour work weeks during August.
Availability and willingness to work during weekends, summer, holidays, and Turn and attend summer and winter training programs as scheduled.
o Anticipate receiving 30 – 40 hour work weeks during August trainings.
Availability and willingness to be scheduled between Monday – Friday from 8am – 5pm for RA training.
o Additionally, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday you may be scheduled to work the evening desk shifts between the hours of 7pm - 3am.
o Each RA is required to work at least one holiday this includes all recognized company holidays and Halloween.
Prioritization of this role second to academic pursuits and above other employment and leadership/college involvement.
Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and as a member of various teams with minimal guidance.
Ability to meet goals and deadlines timely and consistently.
Works effectively with all levels of management and a diverse student population.
Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within a constantly changing environment – with the ability to adjust priorities.

The base salary range for this position is $15.
