Position Area of specialty: community engagement, with an emphasis on addressing how structural inequities and disparities impact communities, as well as their effects on health and human development.
The department is especially interested in candidates who align with our mission to prepare students to serve diverse individuals, families, and communities and whose research, teaching, and service reflect a commitment to equity, belonging, and justice.
The primary responsibilities include: Teaching at the undergraduate level Engaging in scholarship and other scholarly creative activities Serving the department, college, university, community, and the profession; for example, mentoring students and participating in campus and system-wide committees, Working collaboratively within the University and the communities we serve, as well as participating in traditional academic functions.
Required Qualifications An earned doctorate in human services or a closely related field (e.
g.
, counseling, social work, psychology, public health, family studies, human development, ethnic studies, applied anthropology, sociology, etc.
) from an accredited institution before appointment.
Demonstrated commitment and ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a culturally diverse campus community.
Demonstrated commitment and ability to teach students from diverse backgrounds at the undergraduate level, with an understanding of the impact of structural inequities on student learning.
Evidence of community involvement/advocacy with a social justice orientation.
Demonstrated ability to conduct research and scholarly work with a focus on reducing racial/ethnic disparities, increasing access, equity, and opportunities for historically marginalized communities.
Preferred Qualifications Experience working with historically marginalized communities such as Latine or other BIPOC Demonstrated experience in non-profit community organizations, clinical settings, or leadership in community engagement.

Appointment Date Fall 2024 Compensation The Assistant Professor (Academic Year) classification salary range is $5,405 to $11,994 monthly (12 monthly payments per academic year).
The anticipated hiring range is $6,486 to $6,614 per month.
Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Periodic salary adjustments are enacted by the state legislature.
