We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the Business Advisor (Student Services Professional II).

Under the general supervision of the Director of the Business Advising Center, the Business Advisor provides academic advisement and support to undergraduate students in the College of Business and Economics.
Advises prospective, newly admitted, and continuing undergraduate students on their major degree requirements, general education, course selection, evaluation of transcripts, and general university policies and procedures.
Advises students on academic notice and does research and develops strategies to improve programs to assist students to achieve good academic standing.
In collaboration with members of the advising team develops, implements, and assesses comprehensive plans to improve retention of students such as new student orientation/seminars and ALEKS.
Oversees an assigned population of students and coordinates and assess activities and intervention strategies based on their needs.
Conducts ongoing review of retention data within each population to identify common trends resulting in failure to progress and provide solution-centered recommendations.
Responsible for tracking advising appointments, emails, live chat, and outcome of campaigns.
Reviews and files TDA exceptions for approved electives, course substitutions, and approved evaluated coursework.
Processes change of major requests and responds to student emails.
Plans, executes, and assesses student programming and campaigns each year, for an assigned student population, to help support student success and increase student engagement such as the non-enrolled campaign.
Assists specialists with degree audits for various campaigns, such as undeclared campaigns and graduation audits.
Supports the Assistant Director with training through shadowing, mock advising, and providing feedback.
Coordinate and participates in outreach activities.
Analyzes and modifies other existing programs to encourage cross campus collaboration of resources, as well as finding innovative means of facilitating retention and graduation.

Essential Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent from an accredited four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public administration, business administration or a job-related field and two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or a related field.
A master’s degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of professional experience.
Additional specialized and relevant experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
General knowledge of the methods and problems of organizational management, research, and interview techniques.
Ability to interpret and apply program rules and regulations, obtain factual and interpretative information through interviews, and advise students individually and in groups on complex student-related matters.
Ability to reason logically and use initiative in planning work assignments and in implementing long-range program improvements.
Ability to plan, develop, coordinate, supervise, and organize programs and activities.
Ability to interact with a diverse student population, faculty, staff, and the public.
Ability to analyze complex situations accurately and adopt effective courses of action.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a variety of individuals.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to acquire knowledge of campus procedures, activities, and of the overall organization.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment.
CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information.
Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
