Position Title: Fitness & Wellness Coordinator
Reports To: Director, Student Recreation Center
Payroll Classification: Salaried, Exempt
Starting Salary: $66,560.
00 Priority Filing Date: Open Until Filled Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Director, Student Recreation Center, the Fitness & Wellness Coordinator is responsible for the management and administration of all areas of Fitness & Wellness.
These areas include Drop-In Fitness/Group Exercise Program, Personal Training, Instructional Recreation Class, and management of Weight Room & Cardio areas, functional training space, and development, implementation, and management of the Wellness Program.
The Fitness & Wellness Coordinator is responsible for all programmatic aspects of the SRC’s Fitness, Instructional Program & Wellness, and the management of the equipment.
The Fitness & Wellness Coordinator will assist with developing the budget for all Fitness & Wellness areas and is responsible for meeting department revenue goals.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities · Responsible for coordination of all Fitness & Wellness staff including recruitment, selection, training, supervision, evaluation, and discipline.
· Design, implement, evaluate, and provides vision, leadership, and strategic direction of the Student Recreation Center Fitness & Wellness program.
· Develop and implement procedures and recommend policies that will ensure the effective day to day operation of the Fitness & Wellness programs.
Develop and administer needs assessments or surveys to determine interest in, or satisfaction with, fitness & wellness programs, events, or services.
· Establish and enforce policies and guidelines that provide for the effective and safe operation of Fitness & Wellness programs.
· Responsible for the effective delivery, evaluation, promotion, and reporting of innovative and traditional Fitness & Wellness programs designed to engage the campus community including program development, scheduling, implementation, program registration, and participant development.
· Responsible for close coordination with the Health and Human Development College, Student Health Center, CAPS, Titan Well Program Department, Disability Support Services, and other campus wellness resources · Collect, monitor, report data, make recommendations and analyze program use information to identify trends to the SRC Director.
· Develop a year-round event calendar for student, member, and community programming.
· Collaborate with Operations Coordinator for facility reservations associated with program needs.
· Coordinate with SRC Director to develop marketing campaign for programs and services.
· Assist in developing procedures manual and training program for the fitness & wellness department.
· Recruit, supervise, train, and evaluate: Group Exercise Instructors, Instructional Class Instructors, Personal Training Staff, Floor attendants for the SRC.
· Coordinate and conduct monthly staff and safety training meetings.
· Prepare annual income, expense, and capital budgets recommendations for Fitness & Wellness department.
· Manage Fitness & Wellness budget; review and endorse all budget expenditures prior to submittal to the SRC Director for approval.
· Prepare an annual report for the Fitness & Wellness department, including but not limited to: Appropriate statistical data, assessment, challenges, and recommendations.
· As a member of the SRC team, meet regularly with other personnel to establish and ensure effective on-going communication and coordination between programs.
· Provide support to the entire SRC team in the development and implementation of special programs and projects.
· Participate on various committees.
· Review and evaluate fitness operations and programs to ensure that appropriate risk management precautions and procedures are in place or developed and ensure the department and facility is in compliance with all safety/risk management requirements.
· Establish expected standards of performance and assign staff responsibilities to insure proper program delivery.
· Prepare and process all personnel and payroll documentation and maintain accurate records of all employee data.
· Provide support to the SRC Director in the development and implementation of special programs and projects.
· Demonstrate proper operation of fitness equipment, such as resistance machines, cardio machines, free weights, or fitness assessment devices.
· Be knowledgeable of current national wellness and wellbeing initiatives, activities, and trends.
· Develop recommendations to generate revenue growth.
· Develop programming for inclusive recreation to serve the needs of all patrons.
Serve on SRC Safety and Emergency Team · Train staff on all relevant policies and procedures, safety and risk management procedures and requirements, customer service expectations and conduct monthly safety training meetings for the Fitness & Wellness department.
· Track and document all training and certifications for all staff · Create and promote student professional development opportunities.
· Must being willing to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends when necessary.
· Perform other duties relating to the overall mission, vision, and values of Associated Students, CSUF, Inc.
and the SRC.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree required in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field.
Master’s Degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field preferred.
Required Certifications: Must have current certification from one of the following: ACSM, NSCA, ACE, NASM Other: Current CPR/First Aid Certification required and American Red Cross CPR/First Aid Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
Experience: Knowledge and abilities demonstrated through two to four years of progressive experience in managing fitness and wellness programs and personnel.
Knowledge and Abilities: · Demonstrated ability to organize, manage, and evaluate group activity programs.
· Ability to independently interpret and apply a wide variety of policies and procedures.

Occasionally work is conducted in the outdoors for extended periods, in the delivery of various activities.
Special Requirements: · Must acquire First Aid, CPR/AED certification within 30 days of employment.
