This is a temporary position to end on or before June 30, 2025 with a possibility of renewal on an annual basis if funds and/or program needs exist.

About the Position: University Outreach serves prospective and incoming students, and any other interested parties in the information seeking and application process, as it relates to the California State University system and Cal State Fullerton specifically.
Our office provides campus tours, informational workshops, new and transfer student orientations and general information.
We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the Outreach and Recruitment Counselor (Student Services Professional II).
The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.
Under the direction of the Director of Outreach and Recruitment, and under the lead of the Associate Director, the Outreach and Recruitment Counselor collaborates within Student Affairs to implement programs designed to recruit, retain, and graduate a diverse student body.
Provides pre-admission advisement to prospective students, parents, school counselors, and community agencies both internal and external to the university.
Assists with the application process, academic major selection and preparation, and pre-enrollment procedures.
Represents the campus at recruitment programs such as school site visits, college fairs, parent meetings, community forums, and other outreach events to achieve the enrollment management goals of the university.
Coordinates various events, one-on-one appointments, and phone and e-mail communications to advise prospective students to support outreach and recruitment efforts.
Responsible for various aspects of large-scale event planning such as Welcome to CSUF Day, CSU Super Sunday, Leadership Conferences, and other events.
Other related duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent from an accredited four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public administration, business administration or a job-related field and two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or a related field.
A master’s degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of professional experience.
Additional specialized and relevant experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
General knowledge of the methods and problems of organizational management, research, and interview techniques.
Ability to interpret and apply program rules and regulations, obtain factual and interpretative information through interviews, and advise students individually and in groups on complex student-related matters.
Ability to reason logically and use initiative in planning work assignments and in implementing long-range program improvements.
Ability to plan, develop, coordinate, supervise, and organize programs and activities.
Ability to interact with a diverse student population, faculty, staff, and the public.
Ability to analyze complex situations accurately and adopt effective courses of action.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a variety of individuals.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to acquire knowledge of campus procedures, activities, and of the overall organization.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment.
CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information.
Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
Preferred Qualifications Master's degree from an accredited college or university.
Excellent written communication skills in a customer service environment.
Knowledge of issues pertaining to K-12 and community college outreach.
Familiarity with CSU admissions requirements and with advising students in a public education setting.
Ability to interact with a diverse student population, faculty, staff, and the public.
Experience using computer software programs for organizing, workshop development, correspondence, and student tracking databases.
License/Certifications A Valid California Driver's License.
