The primary assignment involves providing a wide range of educational, career, and personal counseling to current and prospective college student athletes and the general student population.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Provide comprehensive educational, career, and personal counseling to current and prospective student athletes and the general student population.
Assist students in making decisions relative to career choice, major selection, and educational planning, including appropriate assessment, vocational counseling, and transfer to a four-year college/university.
Maintain understanding and proficiency utilizing athletic eligibility requirements – The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), and California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA)- combined with transfer requirements for in-state, out-of-state, public and private colleges and universities to assist students to set goals and develop comprehensive student education plans.
Provide general education planning orientation, program advisement and follow-up counseling for new student athletes in individual and group settings, referrals for the student athlete services.
Provide case management activities to student athletes to ensure that all student-athletes meet the matriculation requirements for priority registration.
Ensure that all Student-Athletes have initial SEP for 3C2A eligibility for participation in their first semester, and comprehensive SEP's for participation in their second semester and beyond.
Develop effective working relationships with faculty members in other instructional disciplines and perform liaison activities as required.
Serve as a consultant to faculty and coaches regarding student athlete performance and retention.
Assist in the preparation of counseling related publications and in the presentation of workshops on issues related to student athletes.
Maintain accurate records and MIS coding for reporting purposes.
Coordinate and communicate with parents, coaches, and compliance/eligibility officers as necessary within The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) guidelines.

Pay Philosophy For a full-time, tenure-track Counselor position a maximum starting range of $73,751 to $125,741 is offered, based on the 2023-2024 salary schedule of $73,751 to $175,836.
In addition, an annual stipend of $3,861 is offered for possession of an earned doctorate from an accredited institution.

Pay Philosophy For a full-time, tenure-track Counselor position a maximum starting range of $73,751 to $125,741 is offered, based on the 2023-2024 salary schedule of $73,751 to $175,836.
In addition, an annual stipend of $3,861 is offered for possession of an earned doctorate from an accredited institution.
