Position Summary:
GEAR UP is a Federally Funded college preparation program for low-income, first generation college students.
The program helps the student participants develop the skills necessary to succeed by providing academic tutoring and mentoring, college information overview, and a variety of other services.
Instructional leaders are needed to serve as school Mentors supporting students during the academic day.
Program activities and academic support services include the following subject areas: mathematics, science, English, composition/literature and other extra-curricular activities.

Bachelor of Arts or working towards BA
General knowledge of subject(s) to answer questions and provide assistance in activities designed to develop their general education skills and improve mastery of course material • Understanding of electronic mail and computer applications including Google Apps and Khan Academy Enthusiasm, imagination, patience, responsibility, flexibility, good communication and leadership skills.
Genuine interest in working with students Ability to work and relate with high school students from a variety of low-income, cultural and academic backgrounds Must have the proper skills to adequately understand and communicate with a wide range of students and their abilities •
