Creative Arts is a broad-scoped area of the University curriculum within the School of Arts & Sciences with areas found in the Theatre (Film Emphasis), Visual Arts (Graphic Design and Studio Art) & Communication Studies (Digital Media) majors.
ROLE: The Professor of Creative Arts is a teaching faculty member who conducts their work according to the full-time faculty policies and procedures and is involved with instruction and curriculum development in areas related to film, graphic design, visual arts, and digital media.
The professor engages with other departments, School and University faculty, and staff to further the mission and scope of the educational goals as set and determined through faculty governance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
Be an effective teacher in the classroom and implement student, peer, and supervisor comments and critiques
Work with program faculty to help students to build a sense of academic community involving mentorship and engagement with the content and mission of the University.
Oversee active learning opportunities for participants as creative artists, instilling a culture of artistic curiosity and courage.
Assist with connecting the program to the local community, professionally and corporately, and encouraging student practicum and internship opportunities.
Fulfill Concordia Faculty staff and responsibilities
Other duties as assigned

Must have a valid Driver License to commute to various off-campus events or seek transportation.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Must meet Concordia University Irvine faculty requirement with an MFA preferred in an area of Creative Arts (film, graphic design, visual arts, or digital media).
Experience in teaching and instruction of undergraduates.
Experience in recruiting and connecting with potential program students, families, and communities
Experience in overseeing student mentors who assist newer program participants
Have working knowledge of creative tools used for the development, editing, or production of areas related to creative arts.
