Responsibilities:
*Cogito Mock Trial COACH Qualifications: *
*1.
**Education Background:*
· A *bachelor's degree* in a relevant field such as Teaching, MUN, Mock Trials, communication, English, education, or a related discipline is required.
Advanced degree is mostly welcome.
*2.
**Experience in MOCK TRIAL for MS/HS , or Speech and Debate:*
· Extensive experience in participating in or coaching MS/HS MOCK TRIAL activities is crucial.
Having background in competitive debate, forensics, or related activities.
*3.
**Knowledge of Mock Trial Formats:*
· Familiarity with MS/HS Mock Trial Format.
Coaches should understand the rules, structures, and judging criteria of these format.
*4.
**Communication Skills: *
· Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are important.
Coaches need to effectively convey concepts, provide feedback to students, and communicate with other coaches and judges.
*5.
**Teaching and Leadership Skills: *
· The ability to teach and mentor students is crucial.
Coaches should be able to inspire, motivate, and guide students in improving their speaking and debating skills.
Leadership skills are valuable for managing a team.
*6.
**Analytical and Critical Thinking: *
· Coaches should possess analytical and critical thinking skills to help students develop arguments, analyze information, and improve their overall debating abilities.
*7.
**Organization Skills: *
· Effective organization is important for managing team activities, scheduling competitions, and coordinating travel arrangements for tournaments.
*8.
Networking: *
· Build a network within the MS/HS Mock Trial community can be beneficial.
This includes connecting with other coaches, attending workshops or conferences, and staying informed about current trends and topics.
*9.
* *Ethical Conduct:*
· Coaches should uphold ethical standards and promote fair play and sportsmanship among their students.
Cogito Debate (Cogito International Inc.
) has hosted more than 3000 students since its inception in 2016.
Cogito’s clients include public school districts, Charter Schools, Homeschool campus, Private schools, in addition to its main campus in Irvine, CA.
Cogito Debate is a WASC accredited academic after school program since 2017 and is launching its Franchise business from 2024.
