Duties
- Provide individualized reading instruction to K-12 students with dyslexia
- Develop and implement effective reading strategies and interventions based on assessments
- Assess students' reading levels and progress at least every 4-8 weeks
- Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to support students' reading development, such as attending IEP meetings (paid) if requested by the parent
- Lead engaging and interactive lessons
- Provide feedback and guidance to parents/guardians to support students' reading goals
- Maintain proper records and schedule
- Be prompt and reliable
- Have valid CA DL and own transportation
```Requirements```
- Master's degree in Reading & Reading Specialist credential OR Bachelor's degree in Education with training in Orton Gillingham
- Proven experience in providing reading instruction to struggling students
- Trained in Orton Gillingham or willingness to be trained
- Knowledge of various reading strategies, interventions, and assessment tools
- Knowledge of structured literacy
- Knowledge of guided reading levels and how to match students with proper leveled texts in their zone of proximal development
- Familiarity with instructional technology and learning resources for reading instruction
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with teachers, parents, and students
- Ability to assess student needs and develop individualized instruction plans
- Knowledge of child development theories and best practices in literacy instruction
- Experience in working with diverse student populations, including special education students
- Ability to manage conflicts and resolve issues related to student learning
- Ability to drive to to the student's home, school, office, or library in the Orange County area (mainly Northern Orange County)
- Willingness to be coached/mentored/supervised
\*This is a position with excellent pay and opportunity for growth and professional development as an independent reading specialist.
Hiree would receive a 1099 and have the ability to make his/her own hours.
If hired, it's required to sign a non-compete agreement for a certain radius of the Orange County area.
