Labor & Employment Summer Associate (Newport Beach, CA) Job Description O’Hagan Meyer is seeking employment law clerks to join its team and assist attorneys in representing clients in the firm’s Newport Beach office.
The Summer Associate would work closely with the office’s established team of litigators and robust client base and would have significant opportunities for growth and advancement.
O’Hagan Meyer LLP is a civil litigation defense firm comprised of over 200 attorneys with offices throughout the United States.
The firm places an emphasis on strong legal work and excellent service while focusing on preventative counseling and a results-oriented approach to litigation.
This is a paid position in-person at the firm’s Newport Beach, CA office.
Examples of what you’ll do: Assist in the defense of challenging cases involving claims based on wage and hour violations, employment discrimination and harassment, breach of contract, and other tort claims.
Attend client phone calls with an attorney and assist with witness interviews.
Assist in preparing updates for clients through reporting and telephone conferences about significant developments in litigation.
Assist in preparation for depositions, court hearings, and other proceedings and observe same.
Develop your legal skills through in-firm mentoring, in-house training sessions, and other professional development activities.
Qualifications/Requirements: Intention to take the California Bar.
Interest in labor and employment litigation preferred, however interest in defense work is also welcome.
Excellent legal research and writing skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
