‘78/‘79 Yamaha yz400 - $1

This a unique vintage motorcycle I purchased from an old timer who has been wrenching on vintage bikes his entire life.
He has photographs of motorcycles he had completely restored on display at prominent show rooms over the years, so he certainly knew what he was doing.
I spent hours with him… and he must’ve had 20 different motorcycles in his garage & in his warehouse, old gas tanks on the wall, bins full of parts… I’m sure you can picture of the scene.
They don’t make old guys like this anymore.
About the bike: So this was one of his pet projects.
And here’s why the bike is unique.
Every part of this bike is a 1978 yz…Except the engine.
The yz 400 engine mounted on this frame is a 1979.
It’s a really good engine.
Worst case scenario I could part out the entire bike.
For instance the gas tank alone is worth at least 250 bucks.
I have a video of the engine running …and there aren’t too many complete 1979 engines still around.
I could go that route and sell everything individually.
But honestly I’d rather sell this to someone who either wants a fun vintage bike or maybe they want to double their money and part it out after they’ve bought it from me.
I know there’s people out there that buy bikes like this and tear everything down and sell each individual part of the engine for instance the wheels the forks all separately and make great money.
