Responsibilities:
Under general supervision of the Tobacco Cessation Manager, this position involves planning, conducting, and evaluating a broad range of education programs for smoking cessation.
The Tobacco Cessation Specialist will also use research-based and best practices information to develop health educational material and edit tobacco cessation curriculum in Korean as needed.
This position is also responsible for providing telephone counseling, individual counseling, and group counseling for adult and youth audiences for tobacco cessation.
The Tobacco Cessation Specialist is responsible for transportation needed in the coordination of smoking cessation outreach and education, as well as fulfill management of documentation in compliance with the County of Orange Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Program.
Korean Tobacco Cessation Specialists will develop marketing strategies to promote services to Korean populations in Orange County.
They will also assist the Manager with departmental quality improvement projects, such as developing standards and protocols for program operations.
Korean specialist is also responsible for providing bedside counseling to all Korean in-patients at ARMC, who want to quit smoking.
Qualifications:
Bilingual – Korean and English (read, write, speak)
Bachelor’s Degree in Health Science or related field preferred
1 year clinical health care or health education experience preferred
Marketing experience preferred
Effective oral and written communication skills in Korean and English
Demonstrates ability to provide individual and large group counseling sessions for all audiences
Competent in public speaking in Korean and English
Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Competent in project management
Ability to develop departmental operational systems and standards
Understanding of Korean demographic makeup in Orange County
