Our mission at the Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Southern California (RMHCSC) is to provide comfort, care, and support to children and families in Southern California.
To achieve our vision of creating a community where children and their families embrace life and healing with a sense of hope, enthusiasm, and joy, RMHCSC operates six Ronald McDonald Houses three Ronald McDonald Family Rooms and Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times.
In partnership with the Executive Director (ED) and Development Director (DD), this position is responsible for the tactical execution and success of special events for Ronald McDonald House Orange County (RMHOC).
Additionally, this position supports community events and other initiatives designed to ensure the organization's financial stability.
Reports to DD and works with various special event committees, Volunteer Manager & volunteers and various staff members to achieve all fundraising goals.
_Duties include but are not limited to the following:_ *Essential Duties and Responsibilities* *Special Events* · Lead and coordinate all signature fundraising events, including Walk for Kids, Charity Golf Tournament, Annual Fall Gala and any new or additional special events · Provide support for other RMHC programmatic events (capital campaign, major donor recognition party, family holiday party, etc.
) · Serve as RMHOC Liaison/support for all third-party events benefiting RMHOC · Responsible for all communications on event promotion (print & electronic event communications, invitations, day of event materials, etc.
) · Strategically plan, execute and evaluate special events, including but not limited to Walk for Kids, Charity Golf Tournament, Fall gala and third-party events · Solicit and secure sponsorships for all special events ensuring revenue goals are achieved · Oversee all logistical aspects of events including negotiation of service contracts to ensure that high production value and target revenue projection are met · Identify new event donors and sponsors through research and networking, including in-kind · Manage an assigned portfolio of event donors & solicit new and returning event sponsors · Implement a stewardship plan for event donors & identify new opportunities to provide exceptional donor stewardship · Manage event budgets and conduct post-event reconciliation, reports and correspondence.
· Provide monthly reports of updates & activities toward development goals to the Development Director and Executive Director · Oversee all event committees and run committee meetings.
· Participate in chapter wide leadership and professional activities to maintain a high-level understanding of fundraising climate and best practices · Solicit new organizations and companies to host fundraisers on behalf of the charity · Attend community sponsored events benefiting RMHOC · Additional duties as assigned *Donor Acknowledgement, Recognition, and Record-Keeping* · Maintain donor database and donor files and ensure donor data and records are maintained in Raiser’s Edge · Prepare gift acknowledgments, gift receipts, tax letters *Marketing & Communications* · Collaborate with Development team to drive RMHOC content strategy by advancing the understanding of and appreciation for RMHOC’s brand, value proposition, and impact from our core services-with key audiences by providing content to aid in driving excellent copy, messaging, and storytelling.
· Collaborate with Development Manager – Marketing & Communications to create, write, and edit content for development (in relation to board engagement, fundraising events, appeals, and newsletters, social media etc.
) · Aid in implementing tactics to increase the number of social media followers; deepen engagement across Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram; manage & drive increased inbound traffic to our regional website; create and localize newsletters.
*Qualifications* Proven record of accomplishment/support in fundraising for a recognized not-for-profit institution.
Familiarity with various funding programs, including annual giving.
Self-motivated and able to solve problems.
Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of people and personalities.
Experience working with volunteer boards.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
An individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily to perform this job successfully.

· Bachelor’s degree · 3-5+ years of experience in event management.
· 1-3+ years of increasing responsibility in fund development for a nonprofit organization.

· Must possess experience in marketing, promotions, public relations, special events, grant writing, and annual fund development.
· Must exhibit strong written and oral communication skills.
· Must be experienced with budgets and financial documents.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams and other office productivity tools (email, database management, digital media, etc.

· Must have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with attention to detail and verbal and written communication skills.
· Knowledge and proven experience working with Canva.
· Raiser’s Edge and Classy knowledge and experience is a plus.

· Able to keep up to date with event management themes, trends, and possess creative vision.
*Supervisory Responsibilities* *· Responsible for the overall supervision, hiring and managing of student/academic interns.
* *· Must be able to create detailed internship curriculums while providing mentoring and supervision.
* *Language Skills* Ability to read, write, and interpret general business documents, correspondence reports, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, families, employees, managers, and the general public.
Proficiency in speaking and writing Spanish ideal.
*Mathematical Skills* Ability to calculate figures and amounts, including basic math, percentages, discounts, and interest.
Ability to understand, analyze and develop budgets.
*Reasoning Ability* Ability to function responsibly and autonomously as demonstrated by excellent decision-making skills, sound judgment, and a high comfort level to exercise authority.
Ability to solve problems and deal with various concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret multiple instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
