As a Senior Communications Specialist at Mercury, you will join a Communications Team that supports Company strategy, drives team member engagement, and builds strong Mercury pride through effective communications.
You will lead communication strategies that inform and engage team members with a people-first approach.
You will partner with leaders and teams across the company to communicate updates and initiatives in the most effective and engaging manner.
A successful candidate partners and provides consultation to a variety of leaders and team members, adapts quickly to change, and has a growth mindset.
Your Responsibilties
Leads strategic communication campaigns that drive Mercury’s strategy, support Company objectives, cultivate our culture, and foster team member engagement.
Consults and partners with various business and project leaders to ensure effective and engaging communications strategies.
Uses change managements strategies to effectively guide team members through change.
Develops a variety of communications that engage with and inspire our team members.
Tracks communication campaigns using metrics and consistently looks for ways to improve communication strategies.
Ensures high quality of communications through research, proofreading, and editing.
Focus areas will include executive support, weekly eNewsletter, DEI, team member engagement, Company initiatives, consultation, and more
Communications Experience
5 - 7+ years experience in communications, public relations, or other related field.
Requires experience in collaborating with business leaders and formulating communications strategies.
Uses change management strategies to communicate change effectively.
Ability to build relationships with a high level of interpersonal skills.
Experience writing a variety of communication pieces, such as newsletters, announcements, articles, FAQs, speaking points, presentations, flyers, brochures, etc.
Proficient in MS Office products including SharePoint, MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel, and other communication platforms, such as Poppulo or HootSuite.
Preferred:
Internal communications experience preferred.
Video production experience preferred.
Skills & Abilities
Must be able to lead communications campaigns and develop communication strategies.
Requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Content creation and communication design.
Must be adaptable to changing business conditions and ambiguity.
Requires the ability to effectively manage multiple assignments with demanding time constraints.
Has a growth mindset and is continuously looking for ways to improve communications.
Demonstrates professional poise, tact and diplomacy at all times.
Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information.
Must be technology savvy and familiar with general software used for developing professional communication pieces in print and electronic format, including, but not limited to the Microsoft Office Suite and other communications programs, such as Canva and Poppulo.
Regular remote attendance on a full-time schedule Monday – Friday, Pacific Time
Education
Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Communications, Journalism, English, Public Relations, or related field of study.
